Common challenge: Taking into account the existing potential in RES as well as the need for strengthening energy efficiency, the G.A.T.E. project seeks to the implementation of mature demonstrative small scale investments at public facilities and real activation of residents and businesses towards joint public awareness initiatives for sustainable development in the area.
Objective: G.A.T.E. builds on shared cross-border assets and the experience from successful project G.AL.E.T. (Greece – Albania 2007-13) in order to enhance further the cross-border cooperation in RES and Energy Efficiency field, in accordance with EU & National policies. Based on the gained experience, partners from G.AL.E.T. consortium collaborate again in order to develop, evaluate and promote RES and energy efficiency at public facilities in the cross-border area, as well as to support residents and businesses activation through the utilization and the extension of advanced interactive tools and applications.

Approach: Using proven technologies/tools, as well as the successful web-platform e-galet.com (G.AL.E.T.), the G.A.T.E. activities will be carried out taking into account the needs of the eligible area in accordance with the requirements of “Greece-Albania 2014-20”.
Joint cross-border activities are absolutely necessary in order to strengthen the use of RES and energy efficiency at public facilities, to improve the businesses and residents activation/clustering in these fields, to raising awareness and to increase the penetration of these technologies.

Added value: The applicability of the G.A.T.E. results to all cross-border area taking into consideration the common-needs and the huge RES and energy efficiency potential. Through the generalization of approach, appropriate practices and web tools for the integration of these technologies at public facilities will be used in practice always in alignment with the EU 2020 Strategy and the relevant strategic frameworks from both Countries.
