The Municipality of Zagori was created under the “Kallikrates” programme, by merging the former Municipalities of Central Zagori, East Zagori, Tymfi and the former Communities of Papigko and Vovousa.

The headquarters of the Municipality are the Asprangeli, where the main town hall also operates, as well as in the former municipalities, the Municipal Departments of Eastern Zagori in Miliotades and Tymfis in Tsepelovo, the personnel that serve them offer services along with the KEPs operating as well as the KEP in the Papigo Municipal District.

Spreading over an area of 989.8 square kilometers, the Municipality of Zagori is the largest in Epirus and one of the five most sparsely populated in the country compared to the population, with 3.8 inhabitants per square km.

The incomparable beauty of the natural and structured environment, the monuments of nature and human civilization, the people of Zagori themselves are the strength of this place.

Zagori has established itself in a world-famous tourist destination, all year around.

Of course, our goal is to support and enhance the upgrading of the tourist product in all forms of alternative tourism, in cooperation with the professionals operating in the villages, but also by any appropriate means and action to promote it.

Particular emphasis is given to preserving and spreading the invaluable value of our culture to younger people, supporting the activities of organizations and associations, organizing events and actions to promote it, both inside and outside Greece.
