The proposed project is based on the idea of common interests for protecting the environment and promoting risk prevention and management in the cross-border region. The protection of the environment can only be achieved through the joint actions for effective risk prevention of natural and manmade disasters such as forest fires. The improved coordination, the logistics capacity and community awareness of local people and visitors on both sides are specific tasks, whose success lies on common efforts.
Preparation of a guidebook for fire prevention; Joint plans for management of forces in case of disasters across both borders; Technical specification for the installation of early warning system for forest fires and respective software; Installed a network to monitor the respective covered forest areas; Purchase of fire fight vehicles.
Creation of mountain water depots, info centre, installing fire monitoring system; Equipping fire-fighting depots, purchasing of necessary hardware, created digital maps and joint; Media publications, web-site, info boards, user-guide for the prevention and combating forest fires; Trainings for Fire Departments from both regions. Procedures created – for communication and sustainable coordination, joint actions for preservation of natural environment.
