The new Programme is approved!

With the European Commission Implementing Decision C(2022)8883/29.11.2022, the Interreg VI-A IPA Greece-Albania has been approved.

To fulfill its Policy Objectives, the Programme will be implemented on 3 priority axes:

  1. Supporting transition to greener and more resilient cross-border regions
  2. Improving accessibility in the cross-border area
  3. Fostering sustainable cross-border economic and social development

Two more areas (regional unit of Kozani in Greece and Fier region in Albania) have been added to the ones of the period 2014-2020.

Therefore, the new Programme will now cover the regions of:

Albania: Berat, Fier, Gjirokastër, Korcë and Vlorë

Greece: Epirus, Ionian Islands and Western Macedonia

The Programme budget amounts to 33.312.503 € with an 80-20% co-financing ratio between EU funds (Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance – IPA III) and national resources of the two participant countries.

Amongst other indicative actions, the Programme mainly aims at:

  • Increased accessibility and effectiveness of healthcare and long-term social care services
  • Improvement of accessibility in historical monuments and cultural sites.
  • Boosting resource-efficient circular economy solutions
  • Protection of natural and urban environment and biodiversity, by promoting green infrastructure
  • Enhanced IT and road connectivity
